Why has Eduloan changed its name?

Our name change is in line with our new business strategy which seeks to enable the dreams of our customers by supporting them throughout their learning journey. It isn’t just about changing our company name, it’s about changing the way we do business; providing not just funding, but the support you need to succeed. Fundi is now able to fund your entire learning needs, from private school, right through to post graduate degrees or executive education and MBA programmes.

What does Fundi mean?

Fundi is in the business of enabling our customer’s education journey. The name FUNDI is deeply rooted in learning, and in Zulu; – Funda means “to learn”. An expert is also known as a “fundi”, and after 20 years of providing education solutions to students, we really are experts in our field.

Is the focus of the organisation changing?

The new name means that we are evolving! The education landscape has changed, and our customer’s needs have changed too. After 20 years in the business we understand the challenges that students face, and that to succeed, our customers need solutions that go beyond finance. A key focus for us therefore, has been to develop solutions that enable one’s learning journey from what to study, right through to the support needed to study.

What support does FUNDI provide?

Fundi has over 20 years of experience in the education sector and during this time we have built strong relationships with institutions and other education providers. This allows us to provide assistance to students that includes career guidance; mentorship; help with accommodation and funding for learning devices such as a laptop.

How do I access this support?

You can access this through our EduOne platform. EduOne is a single online platform for all things student. From information on study options and career advice, to course matching tools, funding applications, discovery portals and student stores – EduOne has it covered. In addition to this, you can get information at our regional branches across the country or visit the FUNDI website.

Does this change affect my current loan?

For you as an existing client it is “business as usual”. All of your current contractual loan agreements with Eduloan will continue to be valid after the name change. Given that all agreements issued under Eduloan remain valid for the term of the contract, we will not issue further documentation in this regard. This means that there will be no need for you to complete any new documents. In addition, our banking details and contact details will remain unchanged.

Will I need to complete any new loan documentation or reapply?

No, you won’t. All of your current contractual loan agreements with Eduloan will continue to be valid after the name change. Given that all agreements issued under Eduloan remain valid for the term of the contract, we will not issue further documentation in this regard. This means that there will be no need for you to complete any new documents. In addition, our banking details and contact details will remain unchanged.

Will the name change have an impact on my interest rates?

No, all of our existing products will remain the same, and you will be made aware of any new products once they become available.

Are the existing Eduloan products changing along with the new name?

What will happen to my current Eduxtras card?

Your current Eduxtras card will remain valid. You can continue to use your card at any of our official outlets. We will however begin to issue new FUNDI cards which will replace your current Eduxtras card.

Will I need a new Eduxtras card?

No, you won’t. If you need a replacement card, or would like a new Fundi-branded card, you can apply for one at our branches on campus, or visit our website at www.fundi.co.za. The cost for a replacement card is R50.
